Grand Valley State University's Education programs are ideal for undergraduate and graduate students to study education, teaching, and counseling. Offering courses in education and teaching since 1964, GVSU provides high-quality programs with small class sizes. In July 2021, Grand Valley State University merged the College of Education and the College of Community and Public Service into a new college, the College of Education and Community Innovation.

The Michigan Literacy Program helps new teachers from GVSU stock their classrooms with books, free of charge. Education faculty Megan Freudigmann and Sheryl Vlietstra operate the program.
